Freedom of association is a fundamental human right. Freedom of association at work and the right to collective bargaining are among the core labour standards of the International Labour Organization. The right to collective bargaining is protected by law in many countries. 

• The Organization is up-to-date on, and understands, the requirements of labour legislation in its countries of operation. 
• The Organization ensures the right of its employees to form associations and recognizes these associations as legitimate representatives of their members.

• Does our Organization discourage collective action by our employees?
• How do we deal with employee associations in countries with weak or no labour legislation, or where attempting to organize could put employees in danger?

• Providing employee associations with resources (e.g. meeting rooms) to facilitate their operations.
  
• Bargaining in good faith with employee unions and associations.

• Firing employees for talking about forming a union.
• Refusing to deal with an employee association.
