A Call to Action

As part of our post CIDA-DFAIT merger strategy, we invite you to engage your members, volunteers, supporters, fans and donors in a call to action targeting MPs.

From May 13 to June 14 -when we expect the new legislation around the merger to be adopted- we want them to hear from their constituencies that Canadians care about global poverty and human rights, and about preserving CIDA’s mandate and a positive role for Canada in the world.

To this effect, we have prepared three tools that you can use to reach out to your supporters:

  • an email message that presents and explains the campaign, provides key messages, links and tips (right click and save target as)
  • a 2 page backgrounder on the CIDA-DFAIT merger

  • an example of letter to send to MPs (right click and save target as)

Please distribute this wide and large, and let us know what the impact is.  We want all MPs to hear the same message and to bring it back to Ottawa!

You can send an e-mail to Chantal at chavard@ccic.ca.  We’ll let you know about the results of the collective campaign efforts to ensure that Canada has a strong international development program that puts ending poverty and human rights front and centre.
