Communications Manager

The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) is an international not-for-profit organization that works to improve care for people with hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders. Established in 1963, the WFH works with member organizations in 118 countries as well as through a network of international volunteers and healthcare providers.

The WFH is looking for an experienced, creative Communications Manager to develop and oversee the WFH’s public relations program. 
 
Type of position:  CONTRACT (12-months maternity replacement), full-time
Location:             Montreal – downtown
Start date:           October 2010

 Principal Responsibilities:

•Planning and executing public relations and public awareness activities in line with the annual workplan.
•Ensuring implementation of an integrated communications strategy that reflects key organizational messages.
•Managing World Hemophilia Day's planning and implementation.
•Overseeing the development and production of publications, web content, articles, presentations, and other materials to promote the WFH and its activities to various audiences.
•Liaising with the WFH’s other departments to ensure consistency and quality of communications and marketing materials.

Qualifications & Requirements:

•University degree in communications/public relations and at least five (5) years of relevant experience, preferably in public relations for the international development, non-profit, or health care sector.
•Significant experience in developing and implementing communications strategies and public relations projects.
•Excellent writing, editing, and project management skills.
•Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects.
•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with volunteers and as part of a team.
•Mastery of English as primary language of communication; fluency in French and/or Spanish is an asset.
